About SPEED


The Ateneo Special Education Society (SPEED) is an accredited student organization of the Ateneo de Manila University. It is also one of the National Finalists of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) of the Philippines, one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies of youth organizations in the country. The organization is comprised of students from various fields of study who have come together to support and assist in the development of persons with special needs, as well as advocate this particular cause to other people.

VISION, MISSION and OBJECTIVES
Ateneo SPEED was founded with the vision of a loving society that embraces persons with special needs.

Ateneo SPEED was founded with the mission to support & assist in the development of persons with special needs and to impart an attitude of compassion in the Ateneo community & initiate its active involvement while providing opportunities to live out the Ignatian Spirituality.

Ateneo SPEED is organized and operated with the following objectives:
(1) to provide assistance to groups committed to the development of persons with special needs;
(2) to contribute to the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development of persons with special needs by holding diversified activities;
(3) to establish a dedicated community of Ateneo SPEED members committed to aid persons with special needs;
(4) to develop Ignatian values among the Ateneo SPEED members;
(5) to provide venues for interaction between the Ateneo community and persons with special needs;
(6) to impart knowledge in the Ateneo community and increase its sensitivity regarding persons with special needs.
